Universal acylindrical actions
Résumé

Acylindrically hyperbolic groups are groups that act with a certain dynamics on a hyperbolic space. This class of groups contains for instance most mapping class groups and Out(F_n) for n > 1. I will explain the notion of acylindrically hyperbolic actions and discuss the idea of universality for those actions. I will describe examples where they exist, and examples where they don’t.

Fast-Slow deterministic systems and random processes
Résumé

Classical averaging theory for fast-slow systems allows to understand the behaviour of such a system for moderately long times. Yet, to understand the dynamics for longer times it is necessary to study the fluctuations around the average. This is a newer subject on which only partial results are known.

I will illustrate in an example how a precise knowledge of the fluctuations allows to understand some of the statistical properties of the deterministic system by comparing it with a stochastic differential equation.

Anosov flows via spectral theory
Résumé

In recent years it has been developed a technique to study the transfer operator associated to a hyperbolic systems in general and Anosov flows in particular. This is based on the introduction of appropriate Banach spaces on which the transfer operator or the generator of the flow has a spectral gap. I will illustrate some of the results that have been obtained thanks to such an approach.

Topological equivalence of random dynamical systems
Résumé

We study bifurcations of dynamical systems perturbed by bounded noise. A simplified approach to look at such systems is to consider the induced set-valued dynamical system (by ignoring the involved probabilities), and bifurcations in set-valued dynamical systems can be observed as discontinuous changes in the minimal invariant sets. On the other hand, a more detailed description is possible when considering the induced random dynamical systems instead of the set-valued dynamical system. Here we study bifurcations induced by a breakdown of topological equivalence and discuss in particular one-dimensional monotone random maps and random circle homeomorphisms. Differences and similarities of both approaches will be highlighted in the talk.

On global solutions to the random Hamilton-Jacobi equation and KPZ problem
Résumé

We shall discuss a possible approach to the problem of KPZ universality based on global solutions to the random Hamilton-Jacobi equation. We shall formulate several conjectures and discuss some rigorous results in their support. We also shall discuss a new renormalisation scheme in dimension 1+1 based on geometrical properties of minimisers and shocks.
