Damien Garreau

I am an assistant professor in the Probability and Statistics team since December 1, 2019. I am also part of the Inria team Maasai. Before that, from 2017 to 2019, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen (Germany). I was working in the Statistical Learning Theory team, under the supervision of Ulrike von Luxburg. I did my PhD in Inria Paris in the Sierra team. I was advised by Sylvain Arlot and Gérard Biau.

Research Topics
I work mainly in the field of Machine Learning. I am particularily interested in providing theoretical guarantees for existing methods. Recently, I am focused on interpretability: can we explain in a simple way how an algorithm takes a specific decision? Are these explanations correct under mild assumptions?
