This talk will review models that describe particular features of
traffic flow. The available mathematical results will be presented
together with tests against real data. Some preliminary results on the
use of these models for traffic management will also be considered.

The analytical framework of this presentation is provided by the
theory of conservation laws, while the traffic environment is that of
highways.
